The affair started about 2 months ago when I started to look for a camera that can help me store location information directly in the EXIF data. I closed on D300 for its features.
I then started going through several websites to order one… It was either out of stock or back-ordered. Everyday my job was to visit froogle , circuitcity, amazon and Ritz.
My first thought was to order it from www.bestpricecameras.com but fortunately even before ordering it, I found out that www.bestpricecameras.com is a fraud.
I asked my friend Anand Aloor Rangaramu to pre-order D300 from Ritz. Ritz neither charged sales tax nor shipping. But the value of the order was above 1000$ and hence credit card company wanted to get a confirmation from Anand before approving the amount. Anand was traveling by and could not be reached over phone and order was placed on hold.
Then, Anand called up Ritz as well as credit card company. He also asked Ritz to ship the camera to his new address. But even after 20 days, Ritz did not send anything. By that time Amazon had started to sell D300 at the came price. I asked him to cancel the order at Ritz and place an order at Amazon.
Unfortunately Amazon did not process his order but locked his Amazon account instead. He had a tough time following up his order. Finally he canceled it.
Then I came across Crutchfield. Anand placed the order on Jan 2nd. The camera is on its way. It will reach Hemanth in Columbus tomorrow. I would get the camera on 12th of Jan…
