My experiments with online shopping

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Ever since I decided upon Nikon D300, I have been spending at least two hours everyday researching on price variation and availability.

I came across a store called http://www.bestpricecameras.com/ which quoted $1,149.00 while other stores were quoting pre-order price – $1799.99. Later I read few reviews about the store which scared me not to order this at all. Another link I came across last week was http://www.superpricedelectronics.com which quoted $1,249.00 … but even this is supposed to be a scam

Amazon had listed the item last week. But price info was not available. Today Amazon is quting $2000 and Circuit City opened the orders for D300 through phone.

Today I came across https://www.preferredphoto.com/ . Though it quoted $1804.00, I wanted to order it. Later on I went through few reviews and decided not to order it from there.

Few hours ago I came across http://www.uniquephoto.com – $1799.99+shipping

Planning to order it from there… Let me find out more

Offsetting Carbon Emission

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

If I complete my journey as planned, I would be covering around 15000 km in 2 months.

I calculated my emission @ http://www.climatecare.org and it came out as 1.04tonnes.

If I cover 20,000, emission tonnage would be 1.39.

I have to do something (other than just paying money at this website)  to offset my emissions. One option could be to plant some trees in my area. Need to think about other viable options…

Mail from Sadat

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Today I received a mail from Sadat expressing his intention to join my K2K trip. Sadat is my friend Nazish’s cousin.

I met Sadat at Indiranagar 100ft road Coffee Day and discussed about the trip.

Both Sadat and Nazish might accompany me partially because of the issues with the number of leaves these people can afford.

Pre-order Nikon D300?

Monday, November 26th, 2007

I am wondering!

Should I pre-order Nikon D300 right away? Or should I wait till January 2008? Pre-ordering will atleast put me in the queue. I cannot imagine completing my K2K trip without geotagging photographs.

But someone should get it for me from US before March. I need to talk to my friends regarding this!

Mail to my friends

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

Hi,

Hope you guys are doing good.

My K2K plan is taking good shape. Now I need to buy few things to make my preparations complete…

I need
1. A DSLR Camera (body only)
2. A lens (for the camera, sold separately)
3. Few Cables (to connect GPS receiver to camera)

I have decided to divide these among you three because I need all of them and I don’t want to overload a single person.

Please let me know whether you guys would be able to help me out. If yes, please respond back to me with your travel plans.

Regards,
CSP
