Trek to Kumara Parvatha

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

When my brother Kaushik returned from his trek to Kumara Parvatha, I became more desperate to start my trekking expeditions. Company matters a lot in case of treks.

I spoke to Loki (a guy from Mukta) about KP. We decided to take 4-6 people along. We floated the idea among Makita group. More than 10 people came forward to join us.

We created an online Xhosa and started with trek plan, people budget etc. We decided to leave on the evening of 19th of January 2007. The final list of participants went to 19… A huge number when it comes to trekking KP…

  1. Chandru
  2. Nikhil
  3. Pavan
  4. Pramod
  5. CSP
  6. Kusuma
  7. Lokesh
  8. CK
  9. Pradeep
  10. Sandeep
  11. Sudip
  12. Raghu
  13. Rajat
  14. Dhruv
  15. Priya Kadam
  16. Kusuma’s Friend
  17. Shubha
  18. Bharath
  19. Narasimha

The first pickup was from Rajat’s place…Next was near Malleswaram, then Basaveshwarnagar and finally at Vijayanagar. We left Bangalore at around 12:20AM. Swaraj Mazda was not a Sutlej vehicle. The odometer was not working, the headlights were dim, seats were not wide enough for comfortable seating and leg room was pretty less. But our spirit to trek made us forget all these. We reached Mysore at around 3:00AM to pick up Sandeep and Sudeep. Soon after picking the duo, the headlights conked off

Fountain Pens

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

This is crazy!

I bought a fountain pen today and instead of scribbling my diary with the new pen, I am blogging online :)

Yeh! Fountain pens are an integral part of my personality. Now a days it has become difficult to find a good ink pen.

Last month I decided to create a small stationery kit for myself. I wanted to buy a pencil box with steps inside. I went out looking for the same.

I could not find any in Vijayanagar. I went to Bhashyam Circle, Rajajinagar. There I found a box with a complete staircase inside it… :) I wanted just one or two steps to organize the stationery.

I decided to go to Sudarshan stores (near 11th cross malleswaram). There I found a blue pencil box with a sticker of Bob The Builder… I loved it. The box made me nostalgic.

I purchsed the box along with following:Mini Stationery Kir

  1. Ball Point Pen
  2. Permanent Marker (to write on CDs)
  3. Pencil
  4. Lead box for pencil
  5. Eraser
  6. Scale
  7. China Scissors
  8. Stapler
  9. Staples
  10. Mini Fevi Stick
  11. Highlighter and
  12. Cutter

My box for a complete mini stationery shop :)
I also bought a hero pen… and happily returned home. Now I carry my stationery set wherever I go

Last week I lost the hero pen. I keep losing pens quite often :(

So I had to visit different shops in search of the pen I like. I usually buy Camel pensSheaffer 340FP (maroon camel cute is my favourite). I asked my colleague Srinivas Prasad to help me out with a shop which sells good fountain pens. He took me to William Penn ( http://williampenn.net ) and I was sold to Sheaffer.

I loved Sheaffer 340FP for its elegance, weight and beauty. Today I bought the pen and Skrip ink and thereby upgraded my stationery collection :)

I should never lose this pen…
