What is the binding factor in a relationship?

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Few days back I realized one more truth.

When 2 people are in love, each is the world for the other. The very thought of separation makes them go mad, forget about living without the other person.

But there are few things which can drain all the emotions from the reservoir of heart.

Doubt or distrust – this is a small leak in the reservoir. It pushes emotional level down. This should be patched before the reservoir runs dry. Since it is a leak, you can make out the change as soon as the level starts going down. You have time to act and patch. So – trust is the cement

But there is a larger and more important element in relationship – respect. Respect is the brick. When one is not respected by a stranger, one may not bother much. But when one is not respected by the person one loves, the dam collapses. There would not be any time to take corrective measures. The gushing emotions will wash everything with them.

Respect is the main ingredient – the building block of relationship. Love cannot hold itself up… There is no meaning in loving someone without respecting him/her

Know when to give up

Love should be your reservoir of strength. If you ever see that love making you weak, if you feel insecure about your love, give it up. It is like having your worst enemy as your best friend and trusting him/her with your life.

I wonder

Today I was reading Calvin and Hobbes, my fav comic, and I was excited than ever

Sometimes I feel very happy that I can read something as hilarious as C&H… It so well written. It reflects the true nature of our inner self. We can very well relate to and identify ourselves with that character… Calvin :)
It also makes me thinka about 2 different kinds of people

  1. People who are literates and don’t know what books are. I seriously pity them. How can someone miss something as amazing as C&H
  2. People who are not at all literate. People who cannot read/write. Life is nothing but darkness for these people. Every human is entitled for joy. For few life is nothing but suffering.

That brings us to a juncture where it is high time that we act and help people… Literates need to move away from the idiot box and illiterates should explore the joy of living… I need to seriously think of something which can make this happen… how can I increase the literacy rate??? How do I lure children to study?

I wonder… Y r people so selfish? Can’t they ever realize that one day we will be burnt to ashes? Can’t they realize that whatever we earn or gain is not permanent? Can’t they realize that we don’t have any right to create problems or explout people?

I also wonder Y are people so serious? Don’t they knw that laughter gets you best of your life… What is the fun in growing old if you have to sacrifice the very essesnce of life – HUMOUR !

Never Assume and Love

Assumption is the most dangerous culprit. If you ever start receiving clues from the other person, even if you think 99% that he/she is interested in you, don’t assume. On the other hand you may be at the other end. Don’t again assume that the person is taking your clues positively. Always speak out your assumption. All your untold feelings need to be verbally affirmed…

Don’t allow assumptions to creep into the relationships. Assumptions can be the biggest air bubbles that blow the artery out.

I love Open Source

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

From past few months, I have been experimenting and evaluating few open source tools. I have found these very enticing and reliable.

Last month I evaluated few project management tools such as dotProject, phprojekt, and egroupware. I adopted dotProject for its latent feature rich simplicity – http://pm.muktafoundation.org
Then came the need of blog. I was happy with b2evolution. Installed the same for Mukta.

I evaluated 3 Wikis – mediawiki, phpwiki and tikiwiki - TikiWiki stood first for its whopping long list of intuitive features. I took blog out of Mukta as tikiwiki has everything – http://wiki.muktafoundation.org
I never ventured into any kind of CMS integration for Mukta.

I was happy… happier than ever.

Then came the turn of creating my own website – my inspiration – http://beccary.com/

She has used wordpress – an elegant blogging tool. But blog was not my main idea. I wanted blog and photo gallery to be additions to my website. My hunt for a CMS tool started.

I evaluated Joomla and Drupal. Now my site runs on Joomla. Joomla has influenced me so much that I am planning to integrate Mukta with Joomla. So has been Joomla’s feature richness and flexibility.

I settled for wordpress – my blogging tool and Coppermine (my online photo album).

All these scripts are developed by people with a passion for free software. All over the world many people like me are excited – I love free software philosophy.

Best things in life are always free. U may not be lucky enough to get few :)
