Today’s AIR program

The AIR program – Lunch Box – today was more of a frustrating interview than a serious conversation. I have started feeling that radios, televisions or newspapers (mainstream media in general) is more worried about filling the slot or the space and is not much concerned about the cause.

Today I barely had less than 20 minutes (if I cut down the songs and the words of the RJ) to talk about a 92 day trip. The talk was interrupted by songs every 3-4 minutes. There was not much of a coherence in my talk. After going through this blunder of talking about a serious issue like water management in the midst of some silly Kannada songs, I don’t know whether I should ever accept such requests to participate in a radio/television chat shows. May be I will stick to my plan of going to my previous companies and talking to my colleagues about the trip than wasting my time on ventures like these – if you ever have to tell stories, complete them!

btw, listened to it. But missed the songs. You’ve spoken well! and used good Kannada. It cannot be a waste of time. More of this should happen, really. You must’ve easily reached thousands of listeners today and that makes the difference. :P

    Hello Sri. Sharada Prasad,

It was a nice interview. I am regular reader of Water Portal-Kannada! Please participate in such programs more and more. I can well imagine how frustrating it must have been for you. Perhaps you can convince the producers to have a pre-recorded interview but also have you there to answer any questions from the listeners! The message about Water should reach everyone and media should be exploited for this purpose. People need to know there is more to life than watching some stupid shows or listening to inane things!

    Keep up the good work!

    shaamala

    Way to go dude!!
I agree with you.. the time dedicated was too small for you to talk. but never the less.. its still is a small step towards a bigger one.

  11. @shaamala Oh! Tumba santosha madam. It was a live show actually. I edited it out to omit songs and ads.

Neat interview CSP. Since it is a radio show you should’ve expected all the music and maybe ads, and figured out that you cannot talk to them about your everything comprehensively but only give out the highlights. You cannot discard the importance of these media just because they do not express seriousness for a cause.
