After reading this post – 20 Reasons You Should Stop Consuming Bottled Waterr, I wanted to update you all on what I chose to drink during my K2K trip.
As you all know, it was a 19000km, 3 months long trip. I had to cover every single state of India. Food and Water were two major concerns of all my friends. People advised us to drink only bottled water and eat at decent places. But I did just the opposite… but why?
Many a times I could not find decent places to eat. States such as UP, MP, Jharkhand and Bihar were nightmares. But I had to stop at some place or the other just to fill my stomach, otherwise I would collapse riding the bike.
Water -Yes, I could have afforded to buy bottled water throughout the trip. It was available almost everywhere. Many people were surprised when I kept saying NO to bottled water. 92 days – I drank every kind of water everywhere. Even Silje, a Norwegian, switched from bottled water to tap water after about 15 days of starting the trip.
Result? None of us had any issues related to health. Both me and Silje did well till the end. Even Dixit and Srikanth, who joined us for about a month from Ahmedabad till Delhi, had absolutely no issues with water.
Thirst can tempt us to buy the shiny water bottles – But is bottled water the only soluton to quench ur thirst. Not at all!
